Today we are trying to navigate the process of convincing a 2-year-old that it is better to sit on a bucket to pee than to go in a diaper (or on the floor).  We are rewarding her successful efforts with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse stickers.  We have gone through almost an entire roll of paper towels since 7:30 this morning.  The carpet may be beyond repair at this point.  Our 10-pack of big-girl underwear has dwindled down to three clean pairs.  All other activities (such as cleaning, cooking, or reading) have been suspended as both parents now hover around Abby like she is a ticking pee bomb.

To Abby’s credit, she has been successful four times today, including waking up from her nap with a dry diaper and making it all the way to the bathroom before peeing.  Without really having any context from previous potty training experiments, I think that’s pretty dang good; more than once I’ve flirted with disaster when trying to balance the need to sleep with the need to urinate.
